Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum

The Gate Theatre is looking to recruit a creative, strategic, and sales-focussed Marketing Manager to lead the theatre’s marketing and communications strategies and the development of our brand. We are looking for someone with proven marketing experience, a passion for audiences and who can be a tireless advocate for the work of the Gate.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing
● To create and implement creative and strategic marketing campaigns for all Gate Theatre activities including but not limited to show campaigns, visiting company campaigns, community projects, fundraising initiatives, and events
● Coordinate and deliver all marketing material including: digital, print, emails (including regular e-shots), advertising, and promotions, to deadline and to budget
● Work with the Executive Team to deliver copy for each production
● To actively engage with the work of the Gate including reading scripts, attendance at R+D sharings, read throughs, rehearsals, and previews
● To conduct detailed sales analysis and use data insights and pixel tracking to plan and evaluate SMART campaigns
● To effectively appoint, manage and brief external contractors, including
co-ordinating photographs and trailers for each production
● To drive the continuing evolution and implementation of the Gate’s brand, to best reflect and articulate the theatre’s mission and programme
● To maintain on a daily basis all Gate Theatre social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SoundCloud, and YouTube
● To ensure that Gate branding is maintained across all external communications
● To design and produce (in house where possible) content including but not limited to show images, FOH signage, digital content, podcasts, rehearsal videos and other content as necessary
Press and Communications
● To work closely with the Press Manager to ensure integrated marketing campaigns, with regular check ins
● To brief the Press Manager with any ideas or updates around each production through the development process
● To liaise with the Development Manager to contribute to and support fundraising through print, press and PR, reporting and information gathering
● To create internal reports and reports for board, funders and statutory reporting as requested
Audience Development
● To lead on the development of our audiences strategically – retaining and growing a core audience, and building on it with new patrons
● To develop and implement Customer Relationship Management strategies to develop relationships with our audiences using Spektrix, Audience Finder, the Impact and Insights Toolkit and other systems
● Grow awareness of the Gate’s access offer, increasing sales for captioned and audio-described performances

Sales, Ticketing, and Customer Service
● To maintain an overview of box office systems and activities, ensuring high standards of work, a welcoming atmosphere for new diverse audiences and participants and a pro-active customer-driven sales approach that achieves agreed sales targets
● Grow the Gate’s e-mailing list and segment data for targeted campaigns
● To maintain overall responsibility for the Gate’s website ensuring all information is up to date, correct, and appropriate, working with the Gate’s developer to ensure best performance, tracking and audience journeys
● Alongside the Theatre Manager work within the Gate’s Privacy Policy to ensure all use of personal data is compliant with GDPR legislation
● To support the Theatre Manager in developing an outstanding customer experience and handling and responding to customer feedback

Management
● To oversee the annual marketing budget, including keeping budget trackers up to date and regular reporting on costs to the Executive Director
● To contribute relevant expertise to business planning, strategy, and reporting with specific oversight of the Gate’s Audience Development Plan and Digital Strategy
● Direct line management of any temporary marketing support roles
● Stay abreast of the latest marketing and digital thinking and investigate new ideas that will enhance the Gate’s activities

General and shared responsibilities
● Promote the work of the Gate
● Take box office bookings along with all Gate staff, led by the Theatre Manager and help maintain Spektrix to underpin the Gate’s excellent customer service
● Along with all staff, support the Development department in communicating the Gate’s Case for Support across our audiences and current donors
● Adhere to the Gate’s health and safety procedures
● Actively contribute towards Green Gate – our environmental sustainability action plan
● Uphold the principles of the Gate’s Equal Opportunities Policy
● As a term of your employment, from time to time you may also be asked to undertake other such appropriate duties as and when required, as well as being asked to work flexible hours to suit the operation of the organisation on occasion
