The British Museum has an exciting opportunity for a research assistant/ early career researcher to consolidate and extend the use of laser cleaning at the Museum. Based in the Department of Scientific Research, the position will involve conducting research on laser cleaning, carrying out technical analysis to support laser cleaning conservation interventions, as well as training and outreach activities.

The role will engage in all aspects of the department's work, playing a full part in all academic aspects of the department and of the Museum’s wider scholarly programmes and community.

You will have a degree in a science discipline or conservation, experimental research experience, the ability to plan and execute research and experience in a laboratory and/or research environment. Experience of research into the conservation of museum/archaeological objects and materials is desirable.

With a high level of IT literacy and excellent organisational skills, you will be able to communicate effectively and clearly to a variety of audiences. A publication record or other evidence of written capabilities would be advantageous.
