The British Museum is the custodian of an unparalleled collection telling the story of humanity over two million years; a world-leading centre of academic excellence; and the UK’s largest tourist attraction.

Our success depends on the commitment and hard work of our thousand-strong staff. We are looking to recruit a Head of HR to lead the development and delivery of a strategy that recognises and builds on that exceptional contribution.

In this senior role, you will lead and inspire a team of eighteen to deliver a first-rate HR service to the Museum, ensuring consistency, efficiency and value for money. You will develop positive, constructive relations with managers and staff. You will be a trusted advisor to the senior management team, combining a deep understanding of the law and best practice, sound analytical skills and a tailored and pragmatic approach.

You will have experience at a senior level across the full range of HR practice, and a track record of effective delivery in an organisation of comparable size and complexity. Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach and excellent judgement will be essential for success in this pivotal role for the Museum.
