We are looking to appoint a Head of Education for the Wallace Collection to lead the Education Department and champion learning both internally and externally.

The Education Department provides learning and engagement programmes for adults, children and young People. The public programme includes free talks, lectures, guided tours and participatory events for adults, complemented with a ticketed programme of art history courses, workshops, study days, Lates and concerts. Family events include a holiday programme, weekly ‘hands on armour’ sessions and the monthly ‘Little Draw’ programme.

The Department has an extensive offer for schools and teachers plus tailored sessions for SEN (Special Educational Needs) students. Finally, it offers dedicated on-site programmes for community groups and access audiences and an outreach programme for people who would otherwise find it difficult or impossible to visit the Collection, such as those in a hospital or care home setting.

The Head of Education will be directly responsible for managing five full-time and part-time employees, plus oversee c. 40 volunteers and c. 20 freelance educators.

The ideal candidate must have a degree in art history, fine arts or museum education and a proven success in managing learning and development programmes, team management, annual budgets, building relationships.
