Research Manager

Research Manager
Employer: Natural History Museum
Salary: £35,000
Location: London

The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s most highly regarded museums and one of the most popular visitor attractions in the UK. We are challenging the way people think about the natural world and seeking to unlock answers to the big issues facing humanity and the planet.

Our Development and Communications Department generates philanthropic income to help us create a Natural History Museum for the future – investing in capital development, attaining vital acquisitions for the collection, transforming our galleries, developing innovative exhibitions and undertaking ground-breaking scientific research on issues that affect us all.

We are looking for a Research Manager to lead prospect research in a range of formats, both proactively and upon request, for fundraisers, senior management, Executive Board, Trustees and other stakeholders. You will provide key insight through data analysis to ensure the department, especially fundraising teams, are utilising resource effectively and maximising fundraising capabilities. Bringing innovation, problem solving and process support across the department, you will pursue efficient and best practice, as well as compliance with GDPR and data protection laws.

The ideal candidate will be an autonomous, self-starter with demonstrated experience in conducting research and communicating results, particularly experience in delivering prospect research. This experience could have been gained in fundraising, recruitment, market research, art, luxury or similar industries. Whilst there will be no line management responsibilities, you will require excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of communicating complex information to a range of stakeholders and audiences in an engaging way. With the ability to both influence and negotiate, presenting research succinctly and objectively.
