In this role you will coordinate the Museum’s loan projects, whilst maintaining high standards in museum best practice, risk management, and collection care.

The role involves delivering the logistics connected with loan projects including transport and courier arrangements, compliance with licences and legal requirements, and ensuring that loans are handled efficiently in a timely manner. This role would liaise with internal and external stakeholders and act as a contact point for key stakeholders associated with loan projects. The role would also administer processes relating to the conservation and collection care of objects being loaned out and in to the Museum.

Key areas of responsibility:

Coordinating loans from the collections of the British Museum to venues in the UK and around the world
Finance administration including processing invoices and budget monitoring
Monitoring loan activity and providing information and support for the management of the loans programme
Person specification:

This is a great opportunity for an individual with experience in collection and/or loans administration to join a growing team of loan administrators in the Museum’s department of Collection Care.

Alongside knowledge of museums and the cultural heritage sector, you will hold at minimum an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent. You will have experience managing small-scale projects.

Able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, you will also be IT literate and have the ability to work within a variety of different teams.
