The British Museum has an exciting vacancy to offer as Senior Administrator and Diary Manager. The role will provide comprehensive diary and administrative support in a busy and fast-paced office environment. Skills required including extensive diary management, ensuring that time, correspondence and communication is effectively and efficiently managed. You will act as a first point of contact and liaison between the Deputy Director and internal and external contacts, communicating at a high level on complex and often confidential issues.

Key areas of responsibility:

Manage and prioritise the Deputy Director’s busy diary, balancing a need to control access to the Deputy Director with the need to maintain good working relationships.
Management of all incoming correspondence, email and telephone calls on behalf of the Deputy Director
Accounts Management - process and record all purchase orders, invoices and expenses using Agresso, liaising with others as required.
Project Management of the Annual Review publication – planning, monitoring, sourcing and commissioning of all information and images. Management of the Annual Review external consultants, producing a joint schedule for all to work towards.
Hold budget responsibility for the Museum’s Annual Review, departmental subscriptions, travel and all office equipment.
Office management for the Museum’s Press department - IT co-ordination, office stationery and equipment and maintenance and repair of office spaces. Health and safety co-ordinator.
Assisting the Press department as required, including with press launches and press events, liaising with journalists and general administrative support.
Person specification:
With degree in Humanities, you will be able to plan work schedules, prioritise, work to deadlines and maintain effective administrative procedures. You will have experience in a communications environment, which is transferable to a significant UK cultural institution. You will be IT literate, able to prioritise and work unsupervised under pressure. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and time management and organisational skills. You will be diplomatic, with experience in handling confidential information.
