Siobhan Davies Dance is inviting expressions of interest to edit our bi-annual magazine Material.

Material aims to add to the body of discourse on dance, building on our track record of publications including Who Cares? Dance in the Gallery & Museum and the catalogue for material / rearranged / to / be which were produced by the organisation.

We need an editor who can use innovative methods to help us tell our story and raise the profile of the artists we support as the organisation evolves into the future by identifying points of interest in our own programme and the wider sector. The editor will work with the artistic team to determine content plans for each issue, commission contributions from artists and commentators and lead the design, production and distribution process. We welcome expressions of interests from individuals with experience of print and digital editing in an arts context or from artists working in our sector who have proven experience of writing and publishing as part of their practice.

This is a freelance opportunity to work with us on the production of one issue of our magazine with the potential to continue to work on future issues. Copies of our first issue are available at the studios, or you can email to request one.

The engagement is available at £2,000 for the first issue, with the potential for extension of the agreement to future issues, subject to negotiation.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Monday 25 February 2019 at 10.00am, and we will invite successful candidates to our Studios for a conversation during the week beginning 4 March.
