Project Manager

Project Manager
Employer: The British Museum
Salary: £33,940-£37,461
Location: London

The British Museum’s Information Services department is seeking a skilled Project Manager to help support the Enterprise Architecture team’s transformational planning and execution. The role will involve managing projects across a diverse selection of discrete projects stretching from curatorial to commercial operations where improvement opportunities present themselves.

The Museum is going through an exciting period of change and is currently in the process of rethinking how it approaches its operations to deliver both front and back office services across the ecosystem. Over the next decade, the Museum will begin embarking on a tremendous programme of change which includes both the digital and physical experiences for the visitor. In addition, the existing architecture will be put under new pressures from strategic initiatives, mobile applications, cloud efficiencies and data policies in light of the political and environmental challenges. Emerging technologies in the cultural landscape will also challenge the format of objects that the Museum holds. No longer purely physical, objects are transforming into digital experiences. These are enormous and exciting challenges for one of Britain’s largest tourist attractions which will increasingly look to technology to help support growing visitor numbers – both virtually as well as physically.

This exciting role involves the coordination and planning of technology projects from initiation through to delivery. Stakeholder and vendor management are important parts of the role that will include risk and issue management, influencing leadership committees and managing project costs and timelines. Additionally, there will be some autonomous working, workshop facilitation and coordinating testing teams required within the role.

It’s a unique opportunity to influence and gain understanding of how one of the world’s most valuable and important institutions operates. Be part of a community of people passionate about the values of the Museum and its 260-year legacy of providing free access to the history of the world.
