Visitor Assistant - Historic Property Steward
Employer: English Heritage
Salary: £8.05 per hour
Location: North Yorkshire

Would you like to use your passion for delivering high quality visitor experiences and be at the heart of telling English Heritage's story? If so, then join our Historic Properties team at Helmsley Castle and play your part in helping visitors experience more of England's captivating past and preserve it for generations to come.

This is a unique opportunity for you to help unlock 900 years of life at Helmsley Castle, a must-see for any visitor to the picturesque market town of Helmsley in the North York Moors National Park. Discover how the castle evolved over the centuries, from a mighty medieval fortress to a luxurious Tudor mansion, to a Civil War stronghold and a romantic Victorian ruin.

Providing a warm welcome to a diverse range of visitors to this historic site, you will ensure they have relevant information for their visit and about the wider local environment. Whether it's cleaning the site at the end of the day to keep it looking its best, selling a guide book or simply building rapport with visitors, you will discover no two days are the same. You will be part of an organisation that is committed to ensuring our visitors leave having had a great experience and believe in a great team environment.

We are looking for people who are committed to providing the very highest levels of customer service, achieving targets and enjoy being part of a busy team with constantly changing priorities. As a confident communicator, you will be comfortable engaging with customers and using your skills in sales to provide exceptional service at all times.

You'll find it's a workplace like no other - taking you behind the scenes of these extraordinary sites and supporting you to share your ideas, inspire others and make a difference.

By joining us you'll enjoy the rewards of a great team environment and an inspiring location, helping to make our site a wonderful place to visit and work. You'll also be joining our charity which through our 400 historic monuments, buildings and sites, brings the story of England to life for over 10 million visitors each year. We offer a competitive benefits package including a generous pension, 25 days leave a year and free entry to all English Heritage properties for you, another adult and up to 6 children (under the age of 19).

Please note, you will be limited to applying for this role at just one site at a time. If we have several of these roles currently available that you are interested in, only apply for the role at the location that is most suitable for you. If your application is successful at the short listing stage, you will get the opportunity to let us know of any other sites you might be interested in working at.
