We are delighted that you are interested in becoming English Heritage's Head of Retail. English Heritage cares for over 400 historic buildings, monuments and sites - from world-famous prehistoric sites to grand medieval castles, and from Roman forts on the edges of the empire to a Cold War bunker. Through these, the charity brings the story of England to life for over 10 million people each year.

English Heritage now seeks to appoint a forward thinking Head of Retail who will be an influential and pro-active leader, leading and managing the retail network in its operation, growth and development.

-To provide strategic direction and operations support and advice, including procedures, policies and presentation requirements, to enable the delivery of the highest standards of presentation and to deliver the sales and profit targets.

- Demonstrate best practice to help develop and support through coaching and mentoring across the retail estate, whilst building a profitable pricing strategy, to establish a clear identity for English Heritage shops.

- To develop a strategic vision for the retail online business as part of the strategy. Identify and develop new business opportunities across all multi-channel retailing platforms.

- To work closely with the Buying and Merchandising team to develop new innovative products which complement the English Heritage brand. Ensuring appropriate stock management systems are in place to successfully manage product supply and stock controls to maximise margins and profitability.

- Deliver growth through strong leadership and management of the retail shop managers and their teams combined with operational effectiveness and business growth.

- You will have the ability to lead, motivate and inspire. Demonstrating high personal standards and good team working practices. Working across the business, with other functions and external stakeholders.

- You will be a highly motivated, people-oriented individual with a good understanding of all aspects of multi-site people management, with an eye for detail to procedures, policies whilst creating a positive fun place to work.

- Proven track record in developing and implementing a strategy with demonstrable results.

- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, strong in empathy and ability to listen. Working with people to build strong and trusted relationships. Highly impactful and able to establish credibility quickly and influence others.

- Commercially astute with the knowledge to analyse financial data to optimise business sales through strong P&L management, whilst building growth through additional revenue streams.
