Hours:Part time (2-3 days per week)

Contract: Permanent — with 6 months probation period

The Web Developer is responsible for delivering a great user-experience, including programming of the organisation’s website, special projects and features, working closely to our Lead Designer, Creative Director and the editorial team across the organisation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Work with website specifications and practice coherent with the style guides of the organisation
- Identify needs of the organisation in terms of user interface features
- Determine any functionality that the site must support
- Manage different content management systems (e.g. WordPress and Expression Engine)
- Code effectively (minimal and optimised), from scratch or by adapting existing website code
- Use version control software (GitHub, Beanstalk etc)
- Debug effectively and proactively and identify any bugs impairing the functionality of the site
- Manage legal requirements, e.g. accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy
- Registering web domain names and manage the hosting of the website

Skills, experience and qualifications required
- A creative and imaginative mind with ability to translate the creativity to practical solutions due to skills in programming and design thinking
- An up to date interest in advances in computer technology and how this affects the business environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- 3+ years’ experience with content management systems, control software and coding (such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MYSQL, Swift)
- Negotiation skills
- Effectively communicate suggested web solutions mock-ups and demos
