The Retail Operations department is responsible for generating income and profit for the Bodleian Libraries, through on-site sales in our two shops -- the Weston Library Shop and the Old Schools Quad Shop -- and online at bodleianshop.co.uk.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Deputy Shop Manager with experience of collaborative working to join our small retail team. You will provide support to the Shop Manager in all day-to-day operational tasks including supervision and rostering of the shop floor team, customer service, opening and closing the shop, till reconciliation, processing transactions, stock replenishment and routine house-keeping.

You will contribute to the ongoing success of the department with your excellent customer service and selling skills. You will have previously worked in a shop floor sales role, and you will have demonstrable experience of cash handling, till operation and using a stock management system. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are also important, as is confidence in the use of MS Office, in particular Outlook and Excel. Previous experience in a supervisory role is desirable.

Some lifting, carrying and moving of stock is required, as part of receipting deliveries and replenishing stock levels. Please note our working environment includes confined spaces and a basement-level stockroom.

This role is full time, working on a rota that includes alternate weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).
