Head of Fundraising

Head of Fundraising
Employer: Horniman Museum & Gardens
Salary: Circa £43,000 per annum
Location: London

The Horniman Museum and Gardens in south east London has been open since Victorian times, when the tea trader and philanthropist, Frederick John Horniman first opened his house and extraordinary collection of objects to the local community. Since then, we have grown significantly and now feature internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as an acclaimed aquarium, butterfly house and natural history gallery – all surrounded by 16 acres of beautiful gardens offering breathtaking views across London.

We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to work closely with trustees, our new CEO and staff to embed a culture that supports fundraising activity throughout the organisation and to take responsibility for meeting our annual fundraising targets. You will make the most of our existing assets, persuading and enthusing our supporters, visitors and local community to convert their passion and loyalty for the Horniman into financial support.

You will oversee fundraising activity across all channels including trusts and foundations but primarily be responsible for increasing support from individual and corporate donors, developing our major gift programme and raising sustainable funding for both projects and the ongoing care of our collections, gardens and estate.

You will be an exceptional relationship manager with a successful track record in fundraising and experience of managing staff and budgets. You will enjoy working collaboratively, maximising the skills and experience of colleagues whenever possible. You will be practical and hands-on in approach, enjoy getting out and about meeting people and skilled at managing multiple initiatives and relationships at different levels in a fast-paced environment.

The closing date for completed applications is 10am on Thursday 19 April 2018. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 2 May 2018.
