Assistant Duty Manager

Assistant Duty Manager
Employer: St Martin-in-the-fields
Salary: £10.92ph
Location: Central London

We are searching for an enthusiastic, energetic, and organised team leader to supervise our team of Concert Ushers in our beautiful iconic building, and support the Duty Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to be closely involved in a world renowned music venue.

Music has always played a central part in the life of our church. The Academy of St Martin in the Fields was founded here in the 1950’s by Sir Neville Marriner and the then Master of Music John Churchill. The breadth of musical activity at St Martin’s is astonishing. As well as the regular pattern of music in worship, St Martin’s hosts three lunch time concerts per week, the longest running free recital programme in the UK, and at least three evening concerts each week. The Music Department at St Martin’s embraces both commercial music making and music in worship. The Music Department is led by the Music Director, who oversees all the musical activity at St Martin’s – both liturgical and non-sacred music.

You will be very personable individual with excellent customer service delivery, be comfortable both ensuring you and the team maximise revenue opportunities as well as truly understanding and responding to our customer needs. In addition to this you must support the Duty Manager with the smooth running of the concert and be responsible in ensuring the health and safety of our customers, the team and our performers with a proactive persona, and who is able to deal with multiple tasks in a very “hands on” way.

We are seeking individuals with the right flair, attitude and creative interest in venue management. This is a great stepping stone for the right person who loves working in the arts and wants to progress in their career.

Evening concerts on Bank Holidays, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings begin at 7.30pm, however our full programme does include additional concerts which may start earlier or finish later.

If you are…..
• Passionate – about creating a welcome
• Hardworking – who can take the initiative to get things done
• Self-starting – excellent at organisation and calm under pressure
