One of the UK’s leading museum organisations, National Museums Scotland (NMS) has a national and international reach. Reporting to the Director of Collections, the successful candidate will lead and manage the development, organisation, preservation and public access to the collections in the department in support of the overall strategy and objectives of NMS. A key focus for the department over the next decade will be the comprehensive redevelopment of the Scottish Galleries of the National Museum. The appointed candidate will determine, manage and participate in departmental research activity in areas relevant to the department’s collections and activities, nationally and internationally, including in personal areas of expertise. Candidates will have experience of managing a comparable collection and will be cognisant of issues relating to access, research and collections care.
