In summer 2017 Barbican International Enterprises’ launches our newest ground breaking exhibition Into the Unknown: A journey through Science Fiction bringing together artists, designers, filmmakers, SFX specialists, musicians and writers all testing the boundaries of reality through some of the most experimental works.

We are looking for exceptional people to work exclusively on this exhibition including film screenings of Science Fiction cults and classics, musical performances and a series of talk events.

You will be a positive, flexible and motivated individual who is dedicated to providing an outstanding customer experience. You will be confident interacting with a wide range of individuals, including managing large groups and queues. We want people who will strive to exceed the expectations of our customers and deliver an experience that matches the quality of our exhibition.

If you have experience in a customer-facing role within an arts venue environment, have excellent verbal communication skills, and are able to work throughout the exhibition period (1 June – 1 September 2017), apply today.

Job details

We are looking for applicants who are available throughout the period of the exhibition 1 June – 1 September 2017 for a maximum of 40 hours per week.

You must be available to attend the selection session and training session (dates below) – applicants unavailable on these days will not be considered.

Shifts are not guaranteed and are offered under a casual agreement.


Shifts will be allocated via a rolling rota; working days will be given at the start of the exhibition engagement period.

Availability will need to include evenings and weekends and will be scheduled between 7.45am and 11.30pm.

Closing date

5pm on Monday 24 April 2017. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.

Selection sessions

Wednesday 3 May 2017, at 10am – 1pm and 3pm – 6pm

Selection sessions are allocated according to availability; you may not be able to choose a time.

Training sessions

Thursday 25 May 2017 and Tuesday 30 May 2017 - you must be available for both.
