Youth Volunteering Officer

Youth Volunteering Officer
Employer: English Heritage
Salary: £20,604 - £22,767
Location: Swindon

This is a new and exciting opportunity to shape the volunteering offer for young people within English Heritage. English Heritage cares for over 400 historic monuments, buildings and places. Through these, we bring the story of England to life for over 10 million visitors each year.

English Heritage has a strategic plan that places volunteering at the heart of our charity objectives. We aim to always create quality, well-managed and rewarding opportunities for volunteers to join us in bringing history to life. Joining a small team based in our Swindon office, you will help drive forward the next phase of our volunteering strategy, by supporting the next phase of development of our Kick the Dust Heritage Lottery funded programme.

You will be supporting the development of our HLF Round Two Kick the Dust application and the English Heritage approach generally, by coordinating a series of pilot volunteering and social action opportunities for a youth audience.

Key tasks for the role will be coordinating the delivery of a programme of volunteering which will attract young people from a diverse range of backgrounds as well as developing a Youth Participation panel which will be shaped by the young people we work with and our consortium partners.

This opportunity includes travel around England to various sites with some occasional overnight stays.

You will have a passion for working with young people and enjoy being a part of a busy team. As a confident communicator, you will be comfortable building rapport with staff and volunteers, and using your skills to ensure good practice around the engagement of young people and delivery of activities.

You will have a proven record of working within deadlines to deliver results whilst taking into account the needs of a number of stakeholders. With experience of working within the charitable sector you will understand the processes of developing a funding bid.

You will enjoy the rewards of a great team environment, with the opportunity to travel to a number of our historic properties in the support of volunteering activities. In addition, English Heritage offers a competitive salary, a generous pension scheme, 25 days holiday (Pro rata, plus bank holidays) and other financial and non-financial lifestyle benefits
